Transistor question
« on: August 29, 2013, 11:58:29 am »
Would it be possible to substitute TIP41c and TIP42c transistors for TIP31c and TIP32c transistors in the power section of an old solidstate amp?

Should be, as long as you sub 41 "C" for 31 "C" because that relates to the voltage rating....the "C" means 100 volt, the "B" are 80 volts, the "A" are 60 volt.

And the 41/42 are 6 amp transistors, whereas the 31's are 3 amp.

basically about 65 watt (41/42) versus 40 watt (31/32)

So I see no reason why not.

Thanks...I have the 41c and 42c's...I was just trying to avoid the wait from ordering the 31c and 32c
