Yeah, Rory was awesome.

I hear shades of Johnny Winter in his slide playing here and there

LOL, the bass player could have been in a commercial

Johnny is one of my top three guitar heros......I loved his rockin' stuff from the late sixties with Rick Darringer....I was surprised about that period of time in Johnny's life when I saw a video interview with him from a couple yrs back. He said that someone, maybe his manager, was trying to get him air time and talked him into doing the rock n roll stuff. He went on to say it was not a good time for him because he didn't really like that stuff and wanted to play the blues.

I saw Johnny and Rick live at the Wadena, Iowa outdoor music festival in 1970. I had never heard of him before that. When the MC introduced him, he and the rest of the group marched out from behind their stacks of Twin Reverbs playing Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo so loud that it shut down the whole right side of the PA system. Wow! is all I can say to that performance. I owned 'Johnny Winter Live And' within days of getting home from the festival.
