Ritchie Blackmore wrote this in tribute to the passing of Jon Lord.  Amazing stuff.  I wish I could play a fraction of this.  Jon Lord, what an icon.

He is playing ENGL nowadays.  They have a Ritchie Blackmore signature model, but it is interesting that he uses a Sovereign and a Savage on his live backline.  I've also seen some unlabeled amps that look like acoustic guitar amps back there, but he doesn't talk about them.  I don't know anything about the ENGL as to what architecture they have as I've never been interested in that tone.  I still like that Major cranked Made in Japan tone.  His Strats do have a custom passive tone control circuit that his tech built for him back in the late 70's.  That has contributed to a unique tone through the years.  His tech also built a tube treble booster into his Majors beginning in the late 70's.  I still like the early tone better.  Something else that I've come to realize is that Ritchie has played a lot of slide over the years, something he is not really recognized for.  Ritchie is a happy man these days.  Blackmore's Night is the longest he has been with any project he has ever been associated with.  I'd still like to see him reunite with David Coverdale and Glen Hughes.  I don't think they could get Ian Paice away from Deep Purple MK VIVXXIIXX...
