Found Some Mercury Iron Supro T-bolt question
« on: November 22, 2013, 11:44:44 am »
Attached is a schematic.  Does anyone know enough to verify.  It looks as if the voltages may be a little higher than I remember.  Also, the additional cap to raise voltage on v1 I have never seen.  It is the cleanest schematic I could find and the others have a lot of corrections I do not really trust.

I actually had one of those amps (in Supro) about 40 years ago, early 70's. I don't recall where I got it (but it was free) or where it went to.

One thing I'll say is that there has to be an error vis a vis node A of the p/s having higher voltage than node B....being "100K" downstream of node B. That's a pretty big "p/s node separation" resistor (I'm sure that's not the preferred term) OTOH, it's supplying maybe 2 ma = 1/2 of a 12AX7 = 200 volt drop...or 100 volts at 1 mil. But node A can't be higher volts than node B unless we are living in an alternate universe.

I would suggest looking at the solid state rectifier schematic rather than the tube rectifier schematic. I helped Sean Weatherford gather the data for these amps, along with others, but my help was for the solid state schematic. The info on the solid state rectified one was checked with 3 amps from me, and several amps from other people too. The tube rectifier schematic was put together later, and it looks like there are some errors on it. personally I think the solid state rectifier version of this amp sounds better anyway.

P.S. I'll get in touch with Sean to verify the correct voltage info on the tube rectifier version of the schematic.

There is some Supro Thunderbolt schematic and layout info here:

Sean hadn't noticed that voltage error on the tube rectified T-bolt schematic, so he will be fixing it on his site, and when he does I will send the corrected schematic to Doug here.
