Yeah, no, not for me thanks.  I don't even trust electronic tuners when I'm the one turning the knobs - they never sound as good as my ears.

Same here. My ears give me what i want to hear. A lot of music was played at different speeds back in the day on the radio. Hendrix and Hey Joe is my low e string tuning method. These days i am not quiet sure if i am remebering the song as i heard it back then. Close enough

I always start with an A tuning fork, myself.

Since it is impossible to get a fretted instrument in-tune anyway, I guess this is as good as any.  I use electronic tuners and they get me close.  Usually I thump each string as I am playing it bringing it up to tune.  If I do not do this and tune to the notes decay, when I play I will be sharp.  Now the 3rd string g I flatten a tad and it really helps the g# in the first position E Chord.  Really all the open chords sound better to my ear.

Someone explained the problem of the 12 note scale vs harmonics to me once.  Most of what he said were calculations, but I did understand why my guitar would sound a little out.  I wish I would have never heard it because before I did it never bothered me.

Tom Anderson is making a guitar with a different nut that attempts to compensate and it is pretty good I must admit, but it would make this tuner useless.

Oh heck.  I was not truthful.  I started playing through a Vocalist processor with pitch correction. :l2:

Really, I cross tune both E notes with a piano, then with each other if recording.  But really, I have found to tune to chords up and down the neck.  I have many times changes slightly if a song is composed of loads of Barr Chords. I am over the top with it myself.
