Just finished these 2 builds and de-bugging. Build 3 hours each de-bugging phaser 2 months LOL.
The chorus pretty much mimics my old MIJ Boss C2 which is what I was looking for. The old boss got very thin sounding and I took it to several repair shops as recommended by others to which made it worse and non repairable. Very happy with the BYOC build and quality of the kit.
The Phase Royal was I bit more difficult build as in you need to go to their forum and read on it before you build, there are several does and donts and as you probably already guessed no I did not read before i built. Heck I have built lots of pedals why read before you build WRONG!!!! I had put the pots too close to the board and and got 2 solder pads almost touching which lead to some very weird undesirable sounding phase shifting but once moved and cleaned up it sounds like a vintage Phase 45 or 90. I was looking for that deep lush phase sound like the older EXH small stone but it does not quite get there. It is a great sounding pedal but I think I am going to try their Soaring Skillet which is a copy of the old Flying Pan as they say it has a deeper phase like the small stone plus it pan's and I don't have one of those so it is a must build. I am a pedal junkie.
