2 amps inot one speaker cab?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I once saw an amp built by Gerald Weber over at Kendrick amps that had a stereo output running two seperate speakers inside the same speaker cab.

What is your thoughts on this? phase cancellation...ect...other problems?

I would like to run two seperate amps into the same 2 x 12 speaker cab by running one amp into one speaker and the other amp into the other speaker.

Thanks

Jonas

If both amps are running in-phase with each other there shouldn't be a problem. If you are running two distinctly different amp designs... be sure the output of both are in-phase with each other.

Ex: In a plexi the first stage comes off the anode. This inverts the signal. This goes into the second stage which comes off the anode. This inverts the signal again so it is back in-phase with the input. The third triode comes off the cathode so there in no inversion. This signal goes through the tone stack to the PI, so the signal there is in-phase with the input.

Some amps differ from the above. You just need to make sure that the two designs you use reach the power tubes in-phase with each other. If they don't, the you could wire the +/- on the speaker of one of them backwards and achieve one final inversion before output, thus achieving an in-phase output on both sides.
