Antiquing Aluminium tube cans
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:34:26 pm »
Hi,

Anyone tried ageing Al tube cans (Hoffman types)?

I have 5 bright and shiny tube cans in an otherwise aged looking 1960 Vibrasonic, so it would be great to give them the patina of age.

any ideas?

cheers, VB

everything will be ok
in the end.
if it's not ok,
it's not the end.

I'd try sanding them with 1000 grit paper and then soaking them in lemon juice with salt.

Don't know if that would work, but that's what I personally would try.

With respect, Tubenit

soak them in a salt and water paste for about a week. That should do it.

I would remove the metal springs before soaking them in anything corrosive
