Anatomy of an EL34
« on: June 09, 2014, 01:23:38 pm »
here.s some pics of a JJ EL 34 showing clearly the glas envelope, cathode ( by the watch ) control grid screen grid and suppressor grid tied to the getter ( the ring ) and finally the plate. All those components are inserted  in the plate so that the flow of electrons could leave the cathode , cross the 3 grids  and  arrive to the plate. When you look at a power tube, you only see the plate. BTW, don't try taking off a hot tube with a wet towel unless you want to study the anatomy of a tube.
