Interesting concept, although the intonation is a bit 'Chinese' to my ears.

That thing sounds incredible.....great for soundtrack work.

Me too....it's the tuning of the harmonic section that gives it that character.
By tuning to the 'perfect fifth' it will inherently give it that Chinese flavor.

Here's a tidbit:

Kind of reminds me of one of these:

but I guess with more tuning options.

That said, I really like the shape of the guitar! Not so sure about the harmonic part, though. If there was a way to mute the harmonic strings or something, then maybe, but it seems a little gimmicky to me. Then again, maybe I need to think outside of the box more :dontknow:

We probably all do.....
You could tune the harmonic section to octaves if you wanted just a straight 'traditional' 12-string sound....

Although at that point it would sound more like a 24-string  :icon_biggrin:

Give one of these to Jimmy Page and he'll change your mind.

The saddles behind the bridge are adjustable (or so he says in the video), so you can tune the notes behind the bridge.

It is interesting, though I suspect it will always be a bit of a special purpose instrument - it will never be your main guitar!  At least, not for anyone doing traditional blues/rock/pop/jazz music.  On the other hand, I know a couple of folks who are on the experimental side of things who could probably do some very cool things with that instrument.  Glen Branca (or his wife Reg, who I knew in college) would probably tune them to quarter steps.

I like the name of his company though - New Complexity.  That thing would be a maintenance nightmare!!!!
