ID Speaker?
« on: September 07, 2014, 09:04:19 pm »
Found some old 12" speaks with about a 3/4" voice coil - maybe 1".  The logo stamped on the back is an oak leaf with a lightning bolt through it.  Any idea who made it?  Thought they would be good for a low wattage build. Don't know what the front looks like because they are still mounted up, but probably a whizzer cone.

Hey Jim, Have you look at this http://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=17263.0 any numbers stamped on it???

I just pulled some great speakers from a Lowrey organ and it had numbers stamped on the magnet but nothing that came up as a maker.  :icon_biggrin:

Oaktron logo...
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Timbo, thank you!  I never saw that post - great info!

Steve, yup, that's it!  Who the heck was Oaktron?  Most opinions online like them.  Not sure how they will work in an amp.  Price is right - free.

Thank you guys!

you can go to mitek.com or close if you google and find info on the company but it appears that even though they still are in business they don't make those type of speakers any longer. It's mostly smaller & more powerful stuff seemingly to compete w/ Bose and the rest of today's hifi/iTunes type of products. I also read the old warehouse closed that made speakers similar to quam, Utah, etc. w/ foam surrounds but weren't all that good? But this was likely from a hifi group not for geetar use so you never know until to try them and maybe blow them up first?
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
