Here's one for y'all...
I'm gonna miss this amp when it's gone because it has been the source of some good old fashioned amp-inspired playing recently....everytime I plugged into it, I would wind up playing for about a half hour before I even knew what happened.
The chassis, iron and sockets began their lives as a Judybox 1x12 combo that I picked up locally last year for $80,,,with some additional parts, supplies, etc., from a guy who was done with it all.
The guy who I built this for just wanted it in a head cab, so I used one of those 2 pine head cabs that I built last year because luckily, the chassis fit right in there....so no additional woodwork was needed.
I gutted the chassis except for the heater wiring, and replaced the stock OT.
The circuit is my take on Sluckey's Tweed Deluxe Reverb,,,with 90% just as he planned it and the other 10% my own interpretation. I was completely shocked by how much I loved the sound and feel of this amp, and I suggest that anyone considering a low wattage AB763'ish type, go right ahead and start ordering parts.
So, the guy wanted a blue LED back-lit face panel that would shine through his nick-name ( RHINOL )....he listed his tone references as Jerry Garcia and Trey A. and just said he wanted some clean, with a little grit at a lower output,,,and this is what I came up with. I used wooden letters on a clear Plexiglas background to get the shine-through effect, and I like it, unless I look at it too long and start picking out my mistakes. I used some Grateful Dead'y looking letters that I found at Michaels and just trimmed 'em top and bottom to fit the faceplate.
He's picking it up tonight, and as much as I will miss it,,,,I am looking forward to moving on to the next beast on the bench.
This was a low budget build that wouldn't pass my normal quality control,,,but I've got way too much time on it as is, so it'll just have to be......I learned some stuff.
