My BASSMAN PICS
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:31:54 am »
Hi everybody !

Here's some pics of my bassman clone ( almost hey hey....). The chassis is a Traynor BASSMASTER  YBA1A  from early 60's,  as well as the PT which has the same specs as the 59' Fender Bassman. The OPT is a Hammond  1650N ( 4.3 K ) that I have bought when I started building amplifiers with you my friends ,  fifteen hundred posts before. The circuit is a 5F6A, as recommended by Tubenit and I think he knew what he was talking about !  Some mods that I performed:

1.One single Hi input.
2. paralled V1 A and V 1B
3. 5.6k grid stoppers on power tubes
4. skipped 47p cap accross PI plates
5.. switchable 10uF on second stage, parlalled with 820R , for more gain.
6. no tone stack , ( but presence  )
7. one single reservoir cap of 50uF
8. screen power cap raised to 50uF
9. swapped V1 for 12AX7

I used the best audio caps I had in stock: Auricaps, Mojotone, orange drops.  All tubes TUNG SOL , but the rectifier.

THIS AMP is feeding one only EMINENCE 12" Red Coat Patriot which sounds pretty good. ( I will release the brakes: WHiCH SOUNDS A-W-E-S-O-M-E-L-Y jaw dropping  !!!!!!!!! )  I will eventually build or buy a 4 X 10" cab loaded with EMINENCE Legend speakers. The tone of this amp is not so good with 4 X 12" Geenback CELESTION  from 1968 , model G12H55 , (  not re-issues, the same as Hendrix was playing ).  Maybe it is the reason why Fender had used eminence speakers during a long period of time ?? .

Thanks guys !

Hola compadres !

Yes , you will have guessed that I build amplifiers in old ones. Any musician can have his amplifier completely rewired or entirely redone for under 500$ . It is cheap for a boutique amp, if you don't care 'bout the look.
I don't know much about the budget of a USA musician, but here in the province of Quebec, musicians don't earn much. I guess a Fender Bassman amplifier clone, including pine wood cabinet, tolex, grill cloth, all the hardware, speakers, face plate ..name it would easily worth 3,000 $ if not more. With the PRÉVOST solution ( my second name after LeGrippa  ,  all broken musicians can enjoy playing an amplifier with lots of tone.

P.S.: a clip is coming .

Thanks for sharing the pictures!  Conversions of old amps can be VERY cool, IMO.

Can't wait to hear your great guitar playing again!  Look forward to hearing the clips.

with respect, Tubenit

Kagliostro, sei como un  fratello per me, but it is not a nice conversion, it is a cheapo conversion, that took only 20 hours to do. In some cases, time is an important factor. When I finish rebuilding my HD motorbike, I may get into building a cool vintage looking amplifier, from scratch. Tubenit, be patient and you'll be rewarded !
