how hard is it to use a scope?
« on: May 26, 2015, 04:33:46 pm »
I been looking at this thing too long!

Does anyone know of some good videos for getting the basics with using a scope?

such a waste not to use it but i fear the theory might get the better of me?

Edit - sorry I should have said that its not so much in the use or function of the scope I want to learn but its application in reference to tube amps.

There should be plenty of user info on the net. Youtube should have some good basic videos.

Which scope? model number? You can probably find a users/service manual too.

google...
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

There are some books on Pete Millet's site covering this...

+1 to prior replies; and definitely search this Forum (hope those posts are still here).  Members have walked me through it.  There's lots of help here.

It's  a steep learning curve.  Maybe not for everyone.  E.g., I thought I knew what RMS, peak, and peak-to-peak meant, until I tried to use a scope!  It does force you to really re-learn the basics.

Once you get the basics try switching from time base to frequency base and look at some complex guitar signals! :cussing:
