Do the tubes need to cool before I turn it back on again?
« on: July 25, 2015, 05:42:58 pm »
Do I need to wait when turning a tube amp on and off while I am trying some changes? Do the tubes need to cool down before I turn the amp back on? It makes me nervous like a tube will be damaged if I power cycle the amp too quickly but maybe I just made that up in my head.
Thanks.

no
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Sluckey already answered you but you do need to make sure the B+ filter caps are drained of their DCV before you poke around in the amps guts. If their not drained you'll get shocked, maybe badly, can even kill you.

Does your car engine have to cool down before you start it again?  :icon_biggrin:

This is good news. I enjoy being impatient. Thanks again.
