I worked on a couple radar systems that had filaments wired for 12 VAC CT just as you have shown.

Here's 2 good ways;

That's good for 6V operation. But he's wired for 12V operation. Kinda like someone's breadboard.

No.

And it is 3 wires when 2 would do.
