Valve Jr. Stock
« on: October 06, 2015, 06:35:37 am »
I just got a little Valve Jr and I have decided to mod it so this clip is stock with a Boss SD-1 turned up . The little 5w watt is loud especially going through 2 x12 here.
This piece of the UFO song "Let It Roll" still gives me fits trying to play it.  :BangHead:

Haha, you didn't pick an easy one, did you!  Schenker and Uli Jon Roth are just effortless players - it's depressing to watch!  You did a nice job.  You need to go back and lay down the second lead on top.  Guitar Backing Tracks website has Let it Roll.  That Jr sounds really nice.  I've always been a UFO fan, we used to do Doctor Doctor.

A band I was in way way back in high school did Detroit Rock City.  We screwed up the dual lead 9 times out of 10 and it has the be the easiest thing (what, 8 notes or something!) in the world to do!  We were doing all sorts of crazy Rush, Grand Funk, Sabbath, Foghat, Nugent, Zeppelin note for note and we never failed to muff the easiest song in the set... :dontknow:  I was never quite a note for note guy on the leads so I think that's when I convinced myself that a one guitarist band was the way to go for me!  Guys that can play those complex runs note for note night after night have my total respect! :worthy1:

Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Thats cool you played all that stuff Jim , thanks for the tip and listening .I'll check on those backing tracks. I ran out of steam I guess as the song gets to the main part. That is a bitch of a song to play but I am obsessed with it. I have seen Michael live quite a lot. All the back when they opened for Rush on the farewell to kings tour when Michael had his famous Blackout (disappeared mid tour)
The little valve Jr kicks but I am going to tweak it a bit so when it's done I'll post up the result hear.

Be aware that some of those Valve Jrs were shipped with the contacts in the in-line fuse holders in the leads coming from the power transformer coated with some kind of varnish or similar substance.  If you run into an issue with the amp just randomly not working when you turn it on sometimes, try removing the fuses and spraying some contact cleaner onto the contacts.

cool , thanks.
I got it all back together , might need a couple of other little tweaks but I am staring to like it more. I guess R1, R2 and R6,R7 are part of the problem. I added a big filter cap also and changed the Vol. pot  and since it's a version 1AC I did a DC Rectifier .
