B&K 161 restored
« on: November 30, 2015, 05:59:14 pm »
finally cleared this project off the bench!  was a garage sale find ($5), not working, bezel around lower half broke.

used a plastic epoxy to fix the broken bezel, a can of electrical contact cleaner, lots of tweaks to the rotary switches, goo-gone, glass cleaner, headlight fog cleaner, compressed air and walla, good as new!

now I need a bench fairy to clean up so I can build an amp!

Looks good!

Wish I has a bench fairy.  The only fairy I know wears boots.

No such luck here either, ah well, she'd probably put everything in the wrong place anyway!

I remember those from tech school back in the late '60s. Never saw one since.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I don't think this one saw much action since then! Still need to make a proper set of leads, then it'll probably sit till my kids sell it in *the estate sale*  :icon_biggrin:

Not much use for sorting 2N5089.

Would be incredibly useful for people building FuzzFace and similar antique pedals, some of which depend on controlled low Beta to get desired bias and tone.

BAMA has the manual for the 162 (does FETs too) with some interesting remarks on leakage.

I bought the 161 manual from a guy in CA for $12 mainly for the schematic, I think the tech writer came from marketing though :icon_biggrin:
