Having a faceplate made
« on: January 19, 2016, 10:19:05 am »
I converted an Hammond Organ reverb chassis, forget the model, I think AO35 or something like that to a nice sounding 18 watt. I have stickers, ha for the face-plate.  Is it expensive to get just one face plate made? And who wold I contact?

Any other ideas, it's an 18 watt Super Lite, full TMB with volume and gain, in a small head the size of that chassis.

Sandy Henry.  I like her work.  Send her a drawing, she will send you one back as it will be made.  You approve.  Quick turnaround.

The guy at Wasp Engravings is the cheapest you'll find. Great product.

Hopefully in the next few months I'll be getting a Glowforge (https://glowforge.com) that will open up a whole bunch of opportunities for me. I'm wanting to start making my own plates, pcb's, and crafty stuff with this. When I get it up and running, I'll happily start doing plates for EL34 guys as cheap as I can.

I'm looking to do the same thing now. I got quotes from these two so far:

amplates.com

mojotone - less expensive

I have never gotten a plate made before so I don't know about the quality.

This is now on my list of tools to get.  That'll be really handy for me too, I spend about the same amount on faceplates every couple of years so it'll pay for itself indeed.

I have been taking my ideas to a local laser engraver and sitting down with him to design the plate in corel draw and then he sends the file to his laser machine. Each plate costs me around $50 plus $50 for time to design the layout (canadian$).

Although I haven't used them yet, we have a local jewelry store that makes plagues that said they'd give a shot for me. I'm not sure of how thick they're material is though. Maybe and option?

i've been searching info on Glowforge some time ago. the Glowforge doesn't do much on metal. it can engrave it a little bit but that's it.
so far they've had big problems focusing when there is sunlight coming in and no-one has actually seen a working unit of the air filter.
what they've shown on events so far was also very basic cutting with hidden computer screens and nothing like what you see in the video's concerning software and materials.

i was really looking to pre-order but i opted not to do it (importing it in europe and risking annoying warranty issues)
