something i have noticed happens...
« on: February 17, 2016, 06:09:21 pm »
I've noticed that if I write up a detailed response to something and then attach a photo that is too large and I hit post....it tells me the file is too large and if I hit my back key, my entire post is gone forever.

This happens to me fairly regularly actually.  Maybe I am the problem.

Is there a way to have that text data saved in cache or something?

Frustrating isn't it. Before you click on post, copy the text to your computer's clip board. Or if it's a long post type it up in your favorite text editor program then copy/paste to the forum. Also, memorize the file size limits and don't post a big'un.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Yes I have done this before but it's always that one time you forget...and it's a detailed response. :cussing:   I am not supposed to have to be smarter than a computer  :icon_biggrin:

I know exactly what you're saying. I feel your pain too!    :icon_biggrin:

Agree: even do your typing in an actual application (WordPad, TextEdit) then copy/paste to the forum.

Another trick you will forget the next time this bites you....

Don't Attach, just Post your words. *Then* use Modify to attach (or not) your images.

This trick "uses the public forum as text cache". A ton of part-finished posts would be annoying, but the occasional work-around work-in-progress sure beats lost words.

If you really have your head in gear, your words can end with "Image coming later", so early readers know you didn't forget, you are working-on-it.

If you fight with images a lot, I would urge a good image-wrestler. There are some comments in pinned threads. On Windows, IrfanView has been around nearly forever, does many-many things for images, is free.

Yep, not sure why it does that

I have seen this happen on other forums also

I just got in the habit of copying my text before posting
