Princeton Reverb 1 12" combo speaker depth
« on: March 02, 2016, 08:18:14 pm »
I want to build  a Princeton Reverb put it in a 1 12 combo cab. I have a 12" alnico speaker I want to use but not sure about the depth before I hit the tubes and transformers. Or should I just go with a 10" combo instead?  Thanks!

I enlarged the hole in the baffle for a 12" Emi Red White & Blue,  but the speaker frame wouldn't clear the OT.  So I ground away a little of an arm of the frame for clearance.  Amp since sold.  I miss it.

Shouldn't have a problem.  The largest mod anyone does to a Princeton is ass a 12 speaker.  Most Alnico speakers magnet covers come off, so that can help if you need clearance there.

I have never enlarged the baffle, just put in the speaker centered over the 10 hole.  Sometimes rotating the speaker to an open area on the basket will clear the transformer.  If you are getting a 12" cab, is it a little larger?

Also, if needed since you are building you can always mount the Output Transformer a little further back.
