Very nice! I need to pick up a pedal steel at some point. I've always been interested in playing it but I've never had the chance.

That's my best bud Tim and he was floored by the PR tone for steel.  He has done several sessions now and apparently the engineers love it too.

Lets all hope it catches on and we can build Hoffman PR for our steel playing buds

Steel has always struck me as a pretty difficult axe to play; maybe not for simple country tunes, but for chromatics and standards with altered chords, yeah.

Don't steel players traditionally have 100 watt amps thru 15" speakers? Not the optimal studio setup.

We have proven once again no plan survives contact with the enemy, or in this case, with the amp.

Being a steel player myself, yes most of us steel guys like loud clean amps.  15s used to be the standard but with PAs and ear monitors you would be surprised how many are going 12s and lower watt amps.
Tube amps are making a very big come back for many steel players as well.  I played Bridgestone Arena for 22K people with a PR and a good sound guy, it rocked the house...

Sure, the the low watt tube amp is showing up everywhere as most of us still like to have an amp beside up.  It sounds really good and has a nice attack on the steel.  Cowboy Eddie is a good buddy and he has changed to a 50 watt Bassman, but still uses 2, 15's when playing with Jayme as he still prefers a fairly loud stage volume.

Parts of the old 100 Watt amps I do miss, but gone are those days.  Eddie likes the Bassman when playing opposite a Hammond/Leslie in Jayme Johnson band.

I will say I am seeing a lot of Princeton Reverbs on stages these days.  Marty Stuart has been using one for quite a while now and does his tone sound great.

You did get me tho.  I don't recognize Tim and the only steel player I know named Tim is Tim Sergent.

Tim traveled for years with Darrel Singletary and Pam Tillis.  Great friend and player

Yes, Yes, Yes.  Just saw Pam with Lorrie Morgan and Curry was playing.  You did jog my memory and I will keep his "L"ast name private.  Pam has always been great at showing off her band and giving them some stage time, so yes I have heard Tim.  Great player and he reminds me a lot of Pete Drake's traditional styling.  Pete was my Fathers best friend before he became a Nashvillian.  He got on the business side of the music business and did quite well for himself.

Smith Curry is with Pam now?  I just did a gig with him a few months ago and he didn't mention it...  Anywho, Tim is a great player and more importantly a great friend as well.  We have been trading licks for 25 years now...  His PR is my #0001 too... so you know he must be a good bud to get that one :)

Curry was playing for the show, but I do not know if he is her regular.  That recent tour with Lorrie Morgan I think is a special deal for both of them.  I only have seen them once, so it is very possible Smith Curry was sitting in.  I did not ask, but I really love these nice small venues that have popped up.  I have gotten the chance to meet and talk with a lot of musicians I really admire.

Now I get why you let that Princeton with the JBL go.  I have a friend who I have swapped licks with like that as well.  Truth is our swapping is really he shows me 9 and I show him 1. :l2:
He is one of the greatest players you have never heard of.

Yeah, me friend really wanted that amp so I figured I would just build myself another one.  Tim is one of my dearest friends so I had to pass on the PR to him...  He calls me every other day to tell me how great it sounds!  ha!  Does my heart good to see anyone enjoy an amp that much.
