Channel Switching
« on: June 19, 2016, 09:00:11 am »
Im wanting to modify my 30 watt amp. It doesn't have a whole lot of clean. I was thinking bypassing the second stage would clean it up a bit, however I would like to have separate gain controls. If I did this arrangement, would I have to break the connection of the other side of the low gain pot also? It seems that this arrangement means that when the higher gain channel is selected, the low gain control will act as an adjustable drop down resistor and affect the tone of the high gain setting as its adjusted. And could possibly completely short out the signal if the low gain pot is all the way down. Im thinking a DPDT switch will do this. Im not sure if I want to use an actual mechanical switch or use something that can be controlled by a foot switch.

Im going to give this a shot using one of dougs relay power boards and his DPDT relay. I have never done any switching at all so my question is, how do I make this foot switchable? Im assuming the relay is a NO or NC scenario. So when powered up, the relay goes one way, when powered down it goes the other way. Do I just use a footswitch configuration to short out the voltage of the relay?
