Slow click on/off switch
« on: June 20, 2016, 09:10:16 pm »
I went to my seventies Pro Reverb because of my SR running hot, ( funny thing the pro is known to run hot and doesn't seem to be) and I noticed that the on-off switch seems to have a time lag when you operate it and also doesn't have that familiar hard click.   As you flip it up it can be soft and then The Clique will happen after it's been up. It seems to be stock and I'm mostly wondering if there are any problems that might arise other than it not working. Someone told me that serious problems could arise as in the amp frying something, but all I figure is that it'll either latch on or off and best case scenario would be having to unplug it to turn it off or worst it just wouldn't come on. I'm going to fix it I was just curious if I'm playing with a firecracker
keep on with those scales and that fish is gonna die, if it don't bite you first!

never fried a tranny ..till I built a dim bulb tester. UPDATE-haven't fried anything since learning how to properly build & use one...thanks Uncle Doug, & el34 World

It depends on how that switch ultimately fails.

It could fail and short your AC input, not good.

Since you know it is on it's last legs,
I'd look to get a replacement before it goes.

I forgot to say, you could spray it with DeoxIt and see if that brings it back to life.  :icon_biggrin:

Concur with dirty old switch most likely S&P, squirt some cleaner u know the deal... should be fine if not then replace.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
