Dougs relay board and power supply question
« on: June 26, 2016, 12:38:08 pm »
I just got one of Dougs relay boards. I would like to operate the relay by a foot switch. Do I just wire it so the foot switch shunts the 5v to ground?

No! Connect +5V to one side of the relay coil. Connect the other side of the relay coil to one side of the footswitch. Connect the other side of the footswitch to the common side of the 5 volt supply.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I was seriously confused. Looking at some diagrams for signal switching. 1st thing I did was confused a transistor for a switch on the diagram. Also, I had to do some more reading to realize that the jacks on the diagram are wired "upside down" so that the base of the transistor is connected to the inner conductor rather than the shield of the cable.

Me too! I thought you asked about Doug's relay board. Ain't got no transistors.

Wasn't sure. I ordered them but haven't assembled yet.  :icon_biggrin:

What diagrams were you looking at that had transistors and shielded cable?
