Cap Can for PR
« on: July 25, 2016, 05:12:23 pm »
Ignorant question I'm afraid, but is there a layout for how to wire the cap can for the Hoffman Princeton reverb?  The layout supplied shows separate filter caps. A new guy like me isn't smart enough to translate that.

Thanks!

This should help...
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

. . . and the ground terminal should be connected to, yes, you guessed it, ground.

It's four caps in one can with the Negative (usually Ground) ends all connected together for your convenience.

Actually not for your convenience. When you make e-caps all in one can, the negative ends are "naturally" connected through the electrolyte. This happens to be convenient for tube-work where most big e-caps' neg ends go together to ground.

As Sluckey says, little squares and triangles or odd letters tell you which of the four Positive tabs are which values. In this case "Y" is *probably* your first main cap, the others are all-the-same and can be used interchangeably. The other lug in common negative (ground).
