Plexi 6V6 first build success
« on: August 08, 2016, 10:58:12 pm »
New to the forum so I hoe this is the right section.

I just finished the Hoffman board. The only issue was my fault. I used an old power transformer and it puts out 300v without load but drops with amp on. Unfortunately causing a buzz. It goes away a little with biasing but not completely. I will be ordering the correct one soon. It could be the tubes also but I'll start with getting the correct voltage.

I am used to working with high voltage but it was scary turning it on the first time.

Anyway I love the sound. The only "mod" was adding a "standby" switch. It really does accept pedals well.

Well I'm hooked and want to make more now.
Proud to be self taught but, my teacher is an idiot.

Congrats!

Using a light bulb limiter can help with the anxiety when you go to turn it on for the first time.
