next - concept phase
« on: August 16, 2016, 12:15:25 pm »
Here’s the start, the finish is way beyond the horizon.
Working title, The Daddy 5.6.  One of the east coasts *top Ten* climbs and it’s in Dougs back yard, about 10miles up from Morganton NC, anyway;

Pre-Amp only…for now.  The concept is a salesmen demo, more choices than you need in a custom build.
I’m looking for, *tried and smiled*, member tweaked, sections I can, um, learn from.
V1 to V4, Or V1 1-4, I’m looking for something that *complements* a warm clean section.  That covers Ch1, the “normal” channel.
The Not-Normal channel is wide open, I’m looking for tested tone mods, like “notch”? filters, diode clipping, Good OD, etc.  I’ve *penciled in* the FireFlyVer3 mixed with the Reverend Knight V1 section, but I’ve already erased 2 pencils worth, ideas welcome.

I got the *usual suspects* down, I’m thinking of bending my own, making it tall enough to handle turret or eyelet boards mounted *vertical*, but if the *Teacher smiles* I am thinking, if the terminal strips are available, threaded rod with suspended T-strips, think W.W. backplane for tubes :icon_biggrin:. I’m starting with the Vox AC30C2 DC fil idea, KzooVer2 trem, something Fender Verb, 12 knobs, 3 jacks…….I welcome learning, even if it is tough love

Here's the *NOR* channel.
The upper section is from my last build, and it meets my smiles test :laugh:, Warm, chimey, sparkly, clean,
the lower half is borrowed from Orange;
http://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/orange/orange_mkii1973.pdf

I did Xc calc's on the coupling caps (a 1st for me) and I come up with, (correctly?);
at 50HZ 47K for 330pF, and 22k for .0047uF
at 4KHZ 583 for 330pF, and 273 for .0047uF
my conclusion, this is attenuating the lows, passing the highs.

My question; why use a 47uF on V2a if you're gonna kill the lows?
and does this kill *too much* low?

The working schematic below.  The borrowed line-up is;

NOIR
 a  RCA, PRR tweaked
  b Orange 1973

NotNor
 a Reverend Knight
  b Bogner estacy

Reverb PR  re-issue
Trem   Tim Hickey Moody Vibralux

New layout, standard *in-line*, probably tubes forward, 19”X ?, off the shelf blank chassis.

If there’s no glaring issues, it’s on to PS schematic.

Still under consideration;
Add a PI tranny as PreOut.  My thought is I would have 2, albeit outta phase, signals convenient.  Possibly used as differential driver?

Anyway, thanks for getting me this far.
