 reverb concept question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i've been looking at the reverb section of the AB763 schem. It seems to me that the way reverb is added is rather inefficient. The signal gets boosted by 2 or more gain stages, but is then attenuated by a 3.3Meg resistor. The reverb wet signal is then mixed in and the total signal is boosted again by more gain stages.

is this really the best way to add reverb? has anyone tried anything different? any suggestions for different amps that do it better?

thanks

 Premier

one of my next projects is adding 'verb to my bandmaster, I really like the premier reverb. It wouldn't be very difficult, especially using a EL84(9 pin like 12A*7)

i actually went and played a pro reverb and i must say i really like the clean sound as well as how reverb sounds. efficient or not, tone is the bottom line, so i'll implement reverb on my build the way f*nder did theirs. but out of curiocity, do you have a schmeatic for "primer reverb"

thanks

 Coap,
The signal path for the reverb goes directly down to the 12AT7 and then back up to the inverter driver, the 3.3meg resistor is reducing the direct signal from the Tremolo channel, not the wet signal. It isn't the greatest way to handle the direct signal. There are better ways to do it. Thats for me to know and for you to find out. I figured out that mod back in 1968. Works great!!!! geoff

 Premier Reverb 90

this circuit uses 2 tubes, and the 6AQ5 is very close to a 6V6GT(both were used in the Musicmaster Bass amp)
