Guitar Setup

I was looking for assistance with setting up my guitar.  After having my strings on for eons and noticing some buzz and my pups cutting out of late, I decided to restring, rewire my pups and clean out, however, I never setup my guitar before. 
Anyway, at first I went ahead and had a go at my saddles to realize that they were barely holding on as is.  Upon removal, they were beyond repair--Upon removal, the saddle screw holes just deteriorated wider that they couldn't hold the screws anymore.  I went ahead and ordered some new saddles.   I also ordered a new nut because many years ago, I started to use thicker gauge strings and went a filing to accommodate space without knowing what I was doing.  I think in time, this contributed to buzz.
Anyway, it's a strat and I spent some time watching videos about the necessary steps so I am writing to see if I understand correctly.

I don't use the tremolo arm ever, so I am going to keep the bridge parallel to the body and not worry about those springs.  I also won't be messing with the truss rod.
When I put the new saddles on, I am unsure how much I should screw, in terms of the intonation screws (with springs) to align. Secondly, I believe, in terms of saddle height, I should just use the allen head to get each pair somewhat uniform before I put the strings on.
Im using EB Regular Slinky that are 10, 13, 17, 26, 36, 46 gauge.
Once stringed up, I believe I should measure the string height at the fret where the neck meets the body and keep a space of 5/64 between top of fret and bottom of string.  Then do that for each string while tuning and adjusting saddle height.
Then measure action at the nut.
Keep a space of about .018" between top of first fret and bottom of string and file nut accordingly to achieve that measurement for each string.  Tune and continue.

Finally, intonate and set pickup height which I understand.
Do the bridge and nut height steps and measurement numbers seem correct?  I realize everyone has a preference in terms of action, but I was writing if these were good standard measurements to start.

Remove the strings; block the trem (if you aren't going to use it); clean the fingerboard, peghead, and the top of the body; put on the new strings; adjust the truss rod; file nut slots, as needed; adjust the saddle height, then the intonation; adjust the pickups; verify everything is where you want it, and make any minor tweaks which are needed; clean the rest of the body, and re-clean the top if you need to.

That's how professionals do it.  In that order.
