Hi Franko,
Here is a link to the EVH schematic I have been looking at.
http://support.evhgear.com/schematics/EVH_5150III_AmpHead_Schematics.pdfHe really never said what model Bassman he had in mind. Perhaps an AB165 or a Bassman 100. Schematics for those amps are on schematic heaven.
http://schematicheaven.net/fenderamps/bassman_ab165_schem.pdf The guy who wants me to build him a new amp is sending me one of the EVH amps he is using. It should be here in a few days. I have only had a short conversation with him at this point.
I think the channels are referred to by color on the EVH. I have never played one of these amps so I don't know. As soon as I get the amp I will play it to get a feel for what it sounds like. As I understand, the EVH is a three channel amp and around 100 watt.
He said he wants the sound of the "blue channel" on the EVH and the sound of the clean channel on the bassman. That is, I guess the basic design idea. I assume this sort of amp can be built on a turret board. I assume the EVH is being built by Fender on a PCB. Due to the fact we will need some sort of channel switching using relays and transistors, there may be a need also for a small PCB. None of the turret board amps I have built have any channel switching or transistors in them.
Actually a couple of people have ask me to do something like this with 50 watt Marshall amps for the same reason. Great rock sounds but lacking in clean sounds and little head room. This seems to be a common complaint about some high gain amps in general.
It is 2AM here so I need to sign off.
Later guys,
Billy
