Billm Dead
« on: November 01, 2016, 10:12:49 pm »
I was saddened to read this morning that Bill Machrone had died.  I never read any of his tube literature, but I sure read a lot of references to his work around the forums.  I gather that he was one of those people dedicated to helping others in much the same fashion as the fine folk on this forum.  I don't know the details, but it seems pretty cool that a new technology PC guy like that would latch onto old tube technology instead of rejecting it in toto the way that the vast majority of EE's did from that era.

Wow.....  i am kind of shocked there were no replys to this.
I did not realize he was THAT Bill M until i started reading some of these forums.
He had a wonderful career outside of Fenders/Guitar Amps.
FENDER should have given that man a percentage of their Blues Junior profits.!
I am sure the PC world is talking about him much more than our crowd is.
I thought he had beaten that "stuff". I suppose not.
If his Family/Friends ever read this.....Bill was a wonderful guy. He would not remember me, but we talked (via email) several times in 2011 when i was looking to get some new Meters/Test Gear.  It was nice conversing with him. He helped A LOT of guys.
Thank You

Yes. I read him in the PC magazines for years. He largely invented the big glossy PC magazine format, as well as mentored many authors and influencing the industry at large. Always in the best ways.

That is sad news, I've used some of the technics he taught on YouTube, and read some of his articles. Now there was a good teacher and a man willing to share his knowledge. My he rest in peace.
