This one caught my eye on the sidebar list as I was watching one of Willabe's vids.  Ok, so the debate rages on as to whether this is a girl or a guy.  People swear by one side or the other.  Some say they even personally know her or him.  Would be kind of funny though if all the dudes making the colorful comments to a girl suddenly found out she was a he!  She/he has a couple of albums out and she/he sounds like a she when she/he sings.  Whew that was a sentence full!


Regardless, this is an awesome version with incredible technical ability.  This is one of my top ten all time songs.  Kind of has that Highway Star vibe.  We used to do this tune back in the late 70's and I had even pulled up a backing track to record a present day version to see how much I remember.  Now I am embarrassed to do so after listening to her/him.  If you have never heard Ritchie do the original, pull it up.  Again, way ahead of his time - just a great rocking tune.  I used to do the live version from Rainbow On Stage as it was easier to play with all the hand whips and overall noisemaking instead of actually playing notes!  With this version, she/he keeps much of the original but then certainly makes it her/his own.  She/he even throws in some other Rainbow chops like Spotlight Kid.  Overall she/he sounds like a combination of Ritchie, Malmsteen, Vai, and Michael Angelo Batio.  Got it goin on!

Man, all that tapping and sweep picking gets numbing after about the first minute.  You go WOW! that's unreal!  Then you are going WOW! when will this be over!  Like when I saw Malmsteen back in the 80's.
