Amp output issue/question
« on: December 26, 2016, 02:14:39 pm »
Greetings!  I've searched the website but have not found something similar to my situation...I'm sure this is a repeat, if so, can you direct me to that thread?

I just finished a build and have been testing everything.  All my voltages are looking good and I have been able to see that I have signal using a scope and a signal generator at all points, including speaker.  I plugged in the guitar, and no sound.  I hooked up the scope again and the signal is on the scope but no sound.  I then touched a ground wire to the neg terminal of the speaker and then it sounded outstanding..

I get signal but no speaker sound.  So I know that I have a grounding issue but can't seem to find it.  I've checked my connections for continuity and they are continuous.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bart

Check speaker jack.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

If I would slow down and check the obvious.  When I ordered my parts, I thought that I had an male 1/4" input.....but I did not have an extra.  I took a trip to a local music shop that has some switchcraft parts.  Looks like I got the wrong one as it has an extra isolator ring on the male end.  I believe that I have found my problem.  Thanks!
