Have had this for years. Used to playing Super R, but weight is just taking fun out. Plus occasionally my


girl  will bring, or try to bring me amp if I'm somewhere and called to play, and don't want to backtrack..


No way she could, or I even want to lift these anymore. Past mid 50s....pffft.


Thinking of going baSSMAN/super PT, change baffle from heavy waterlogged particle/MDF, to lighter, and 1 12" x 1 10"  would do tube rect. & possible SS. Like varying rect. For power/feel change. MIGHT go smaller Vibroluxe OT, or just Pro R.


Originally bought because buddy Jim has three or four BF Pros, 64-67, and every time I sit in on them they sound beautiful, some of best tones iVe gotten in 150 200 seat venue.


Are there any threads here. I've been reading thru web probably year or two, but actually hard to sift through....of coarse I've read & dug around here, but maybe I don't know how to search correctly.


Any thoughts, or direction?    Oh yeah, its a great amp as it stands. Just has to run wxt6l6s or similar HD tube or it will cook em.


Not opposed to 6550, like/love big Fender clean. But guess if going for BFPro R probably just clone it. Figure lopping off weight will help a lot. PT& OT are BIG & heavy.  ?????

Its the whole weight issue...up into trunk, out maybe up stairs, maybe park far away, wheel to gig...and if my girl needs to bring me amp cause I'm at/or close to gig.....she's only 110lbs. Waaay to heavy for her😮

You could build a custom Pro very easily. Ditch the two channels, ditch the tremolo and reverb - use pedals if you have a need but most performance based useage doesn't need or use these.
Sell your existing amp(s) for cash to support your new amp. You don't need a 500v PT so cooking power tubes is not an issue. Get a good OT, that's about the most important.
Find/build/locate a small 1x12" cab and put a neodymium Creamback or equal in it. The actual single channel amp will fit into a small footprint easily. You'll have a small, loud, powerful, high headroom amp that even Ms Jeanette could pickup? Piece of cake... :)

Sure could Joe, but then what would I have to complain about?  I played a Samamp 7 weekends ago, yes I know, it really was 7 weekends ago.  It is a 2 6V6 sinble channel with a neodyium, K bias claiming 23 watts.  Has the light bulbs for watt killers.  The guy that hosts the website Texas Blues Alley plays one.  Here is a link to him playing one http://texasbluesalley.com/oldtonezone/tone-tuesday/tag/Amp+Demos

The amp is so light when I picked it up I almost hit my chin with it.  Killer tone.  Cannot say enough good things about it.  Caution, does sag so definitely vintage vibe.  Opened it up and it is basically a K bias deluxe, but is built to travel.  The guy just does good work.

I thought I would attach the original patent.  Sam Timberlake owns this and is taken from the US Patent office website.  Please use discretion.  One of the cool things is this will work on a Marshall Superlead, just sags so you kind of have to up your attack and play ahead a smidgen.

Heck, it works everywhere but it is not for everyone.

I had a BF SR my buddy brought by from Texas.  Had vox tilt backs, ggreat bugle boy pre amp asst. & 3 lightbulbs wired I think series? Right down by little fiber circle that all speaker wires meet at. Come to think...all bases were soldered common, & I think separate wire tied centers...so maybe parralel. You guys ever see or hear about? What's story?    I think might have lit with drive=harder hit chord more light. Safety? Tone?


 I have great pics of contraption in camera, phone, when I find, will post. Think might have been spring instead of wire tying all together, to further mystify me. Bet Ed has 5 of em laying around,  just for GP, &Jojo, probably working on distortion version..


Oh yeah best part, for removing & filling holes from tilt backs, let me trade out Amperex's for my own lesser tubes.
