Hello from Wisconsin
« on: July 24, 2017, 08:20:14 am »
Hey, all.
I don't build amps but I own a couple nice ones and sometimes have questions that only knowledgeable tube amp guys can answer. Thanks in advance!

My amps: 5f8a '59 twin. Not in collectable condition, but runs and sounds great. I got it back in '91 for  $200, put  $500 worth of work into it. Never looked back. I lost contact with the guy who did the work, he did a great job. He added a dual gang master volume circuit that works great without drilling any holes. If anyone's interested I can try and upload a snapshot of the circuit.

I also have a hand made copy of the 5f8a, built by a friend. Unfortunately he moved to Germany.

I build partsocasters. Some of my mods require c&c, machine shop work. I prefer the traditional look of the old guitars but I think there's still room for a little improvement.

Day job:  local truck driver. I did long haul for years, mostly east of the Mississippi river. It's an education you can't get any other way. It's kinda nice to be home every day.

Anyway, I sometimes have questions about wiring my partsocasters. The common mods I see around the web don't interest me. I've been told my wiring ideas won't work, only to try them and find out they work just the way I wanted them to.

Leo Fender was not a guitar player. But I wish I could ask him a question now and then.

Thanks again.

welcome to the forum!  There are quite a few guitar builders here that can help.

We also love chatting about amps.  I'd definitely love to see pictures of the guts of the amps you've got, and many here can help with troubleshooting etc.

Cheers!
