« on: August 21, 2017, 10:04:36 am »
Here's the link
https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive/#NASA+TV+-+Eclipse+Views+(Raw+Feed)

It's passing over me, but I am not looking up at it
I may do a pin hole viewer

I am bringing my two dogs inside the shop just in case they look up as it is dark here

I'm watching it now, I may have to walk a few blocks from work, the damn columbia tower (tallest building in seattle) is two blocks from work and right in the view

We're half way there, in another 30 mins it will be full eclipse.  I'm at work but will be walking a few blocks to see it.  I could see it partly for a few mins as it passed between two tall buildings.

I like the "vibe" more than the visual, my hive is less active, my outdoor cats, normally spayed out everywhere are nowhere to be seen, and it's still about an hour away

I didn't have any protection for my camera, I know people were saying it's 'safe' but it's not, it can damage your camera unless you've got a special filter, I tried through my glasses but they shots were pretty crap, I'll post the best here: https://goo.gl/photos/BuT1RC58jo6hrN1H6 it's not awesome, but you can see the chunk eaten out of the sun a bit :)

here's a shot, (poor) from my pin-hole camera.  my indoor cats just slept through, my outdoor ones are still mia

I had the bright idea to monitor it with an unused 50W solar panel attach to my barn, but when I went to lift it to attach wires my hand landed on a wasp nest :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

now I have a corona on my palm :BangHead:

Not much dramatic here in Charlotte where we supposedly had 98% full eclipse.  Outside dusk light came on.  No clouds around my house. Bluebird sky.

Hummingbirds were VERY active during eclipse.  Other birds (cardinals, gold finch, titmouse, bluejays, Carolina chickadee, etc.......)  fed heavily prior to almost peak eclipse here then stopped and started back up 30 minutes later.  I was sitting in my sun room and watching everything.  Sunroom got fairly dark at one point, but there was plenty of daylight around.

We've had it get MUCH darker from heavy storms during the day then the eclipse.   Kind of a none event here really.

With respect, Jeff

The middle of totality passed right smack over my house.  I pulled into my driveway about 30 seconds into totality.  My headlights were on because it was dark!  It got dark in a matter of seconds.  Crickets and frogs were going crazy, birds were quiet.  Horses were like, "Hey you! Feed me!"  Temp dropped from 93 to 83.  It was the craziest thing I've ever been through.  The 360 degree sunset was unreal.  Stars and planets were visible.  But the corona around the moon was incredible!  It sure was the shortest 2 minutes of my life.  Took some hurried crappy cell phone pics and should have just been looking.  Another 7 years and I will probably drive to the next one - only about 2 hours away.  It was that incredible.

Local Ham radio guys on 2 meter are saying they got to Europe for a few minutes due to an atmospheric phenom call the sporadic E layer.  This "reflector" is from dense ionization patterns that are very unpredictable but seem to be prevalent during an eclipse event.  What makes this remarkable is 2 meter is usually good for about 20 miles line of sight.  My radio in the car blew up at totality but I was more interested in the view than chatting!  Amazing stuff.
