AB763 one channel tremolo removal and volume question.
« on: September 20, 2017, 06:55:12 pm »
Hello again, I was wondering if someone could help me with some tech help with my amp. Im running 6L6 power tubes. After reading a couple post on the fact that the way my amp runs the tremolo its doesn't really work well with 6L6's. So i want to remove it from the circuit. are there some parts outside of the pots and wires from the pots the i have to remove. also will i have to jumper the lugs? I would say I've been underwhelmed when it comes to the performance of the effect. Also at full intensity it oscillates like a spaceship and the speakers visibly move in and out. I could just leave it off since thats the easiest option which I've been doing. i can see from the schematic that its more than just the pots.

As Far as output volume, should this amp peel the paint off the walls? its running 2x10 4ohm speaker load and the speakers are rated for 200 watts. i plan on getting some alnico speakers to run it @2ohms. outside of a couple hiccups at first run that were fixed the amp sounds good and the reverb is perfect. The volume just doesn't seem nearly as loud as it should but, I've never played a original SR amp.

There's quite a lot of stuff to remove if you want a clean surgery. Easy thing to do is just pull the tremolo tube. Even easier to just turn it off.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
