Why is Hoffman 5E3 turret board layout different than original?
« on: September 25, 2017, 05:44:50 pm »
I was wondering why the third filter capacitor on the Hoffman 5E3 turret board is separated from the other two, in contrast to the original 5E3 layout which has them together near the power supply. Does this help reduce noise, or is there another reason for it?

yes, the 3rd cap takes care of preamp power which is grounded at the input jack keeping it "cleaner" since it's more sensitive to noise issues do to the small signal you start with
Went Class C for efficiency
