5E3 Capacitor question

On the 5E3  Cap 10 is a filter cap? 
What does it do?

My 5E3 build has been working great since completion. I opened it up to swap out C1 and 2 to tighten up the low end.
I noticed that Cap 10 had disintegrated. Up on inspection it had been installed reverse polarity. (my bad...)  I think it came apart shortly after I turned it on. I never noticed.... I have been playing the amp for a few weeks -mostly very low volume. I cannot see any issues. Coupd that be part of the low end flub?

C10 is your 1st tap filter cap, shoulda made a nice POP when it went.  I would expect more hum than flab, which way did you go with C1 & 2?  they are "to taste" kinda caps, I like 2-10 for C1, then C5 anywhere from 10 - 22.  Speakers are a pretty good source for flab, might try a bunch n see if that helps

That's why the amp hums so much at any volume....
C1 and and 2 are .1 right now.  As this is my first build and kind of a test bed. I thought I might add a small switch on the chassis next to the output jacks that would allow me to switch between different caps on 1 and 2. 
---Maybe I just have the tinker bug and feel the need to mess with it.....

You definitely need to replace C10 to get rid of the hum.
