lacing up turret board connections
« on: February 10, 2018, 02:43:02 pm »
just received my bjr conversion parts.   i thought the board would have all the turrets pre-laced but it doesn't.

no big deal i can do that.

but it looks to me like it might be cleaner/easier to connect the various lugs on the underneath side of the board rather than looping the wire around on the top side.

any reason not to do it that way?

If you prefer wires under the board it will be good practice to draw the connections on the upper side of the board

this will be of support for technician work

OK, that's kind of what i thought.  Just wanted to confirm there's no functional difference.

Thanks.

Just my .02

You are asking for trouble hiding that many jumper connections under the board

Making jumper connections like that is not as good as a wrap around a lug

All you can do is poke a jumper wire into the hole and then you have even less space to put components into the holes
And you will already have solder in the hole
Sealing off one end of a lug hole will not allow you to seal off the other end very easily
The solder will bubble up because it has no place to expand

Plus, applying heat up top may loosen the connections underneath

Trouble shooting will be a nightmare
