OG greetings and question
« on: May 30, 2018, 06:30:26 pm »
Hope your all well, been, oh my 6 years or something since I was building amps and hanging on here, maybe a tad longer. Life and health sometimes tell you whats up and you just have to go with it.  :icon_biggrin:

So if a cheapskate wants to reuse a board with staked turrets and configure it into something else, do the turrets come out rather easy? I was thinking just perhaps a deep small socket and a small pin drift or something?

Have a great day, thanks for your time!

PS: It is a pretty heavy G10 or some fibre composite board, got it at Watts audio I think so I think it'll take a bit of ham fisted'ness

Why?

Cut off the parts and adapt your new build to where the lugs are now. Since most tube stages are much the same, you may even be able to leave half the parts where they are.

That's gotta be easier. And some lugs are staked so violently that you'd break the board before they came out.

I'd be thinking, if they HAD to come out, run a slightly larger drill-bit into the crimp until it falls off.

A Dremel with a round rotary burr bit will do it easily. Just grind off the flared end and the turret will fall out.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks guys, appreciate it. In reality only a few will come out as PRR said much will be applicable and in the right place I just didn't want to brick a nice piece of board. Thanks again!
