Moving to a new Cloud Server host
« on: June 26, 2018, 10:53:37 am »
I have been with IX Webhosting for many years
Originally on a shared windows server way back when
Then I moved to my own Windows cloud server in 2014

IX webhosting was bought out and the new owners do not want the cloud server business
They only wanted the IP addresses and the 250k shared hosting customers

I finally found a host that does windows cloud servers with the same control panel that I like
The migration and server support are there also, which is hard to find with some host

So soon, hoffmanamps.com, el34world.com and this forum will be migrated to a new server
I am not sure what kind of interruptions there will be
Installing stuff, re-starting the new server, etc

I may even have to shut down the forum for short periods.
Just to make sure no post get lost as people try to post while the server re-boots or whatever.

Anywho, just a heads up this will be happening soon

So it will stay on the same URL, but may be "not found" or up/down occasionally. Try again later.

(I have been through this before, but with a static website, not a dynamic forum.)

Same url for all my web sites but new IP addresses

The IP addresses got purchased by the company that bought IX webhosting
250,000 shared web host customers is what they wanted also

They did not want the specialized cloud host customers like me

So they bought IX and stripped out what they wanted

You may see a maintenance mode message soon

I will close the forum for  short time so that all new post go to the new server and not the old server

The move to the new server is supposed to be happening tonight 07/10
Actually tomorrow 3am EST 07/11

I will probably put the forum into maintenance mode before the move
Just so I can make sure no one's post are lost if they happen to be posting at 3am EST :)

It appears that the new server is live  and we are up and running on it :)

It was a bunch of work for sure
I am glad it's all running ok

Within the next 12 hours or so, the DNS records should all be updated to point to the new server IP's

Some people think my web sites are down right now, it's just that they are still being steered to the old IP addresses

My DNS server wasn't updated until about 4 pm today. Maybe if there's a next time you can post the new IP address before going down. Is that even possible?

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I recently had to rebuild my pc due to win 10 1803 update and lost all my contacts. So I don't have a valid email address for you. Would you send me a pm?

Guys, you can always reach me during business hours via email
The email is checked every 1 minute while I am work
After I leave work, I do check email at home a few times during the evening

And I check into Facebook  a few times a day
The hoffmanamps facebook page link is on just about every page on both webs sites
This is handy in case the server is down

I don't anticipate moving to another server again
This only happened because IX webhosting was bought out and I had to move
I was on IX for maybe 10 years?
