Hi, I'm Carl.  I retired a few years ago and have been looking for some hobbies that might catch my interest.  Recently I got excited about vacuum tube electronics, probably going back to building a Heathkit basic radio kit as a kid.  I have no real background in electronics but I have been doing a bit of catch-up via books, articles, tutorials and YouTube videos.  Guitar amplifiers seems to be the best place to start focusing on actual circuit design since it includes pre and power amplification, and it's where distortion is considered a feature.  It's getting time to pick up a soldering iron.
