18 Watter schematics
« on: January 02, 2019, 05:47:14 pm »
Hi,

Happy new year to all of you.

I am new to the forum. As part of my new year's resolutions I am finally going to make my own tube amp.
I had this 2006 handmade SG with some poor electricals that I just refurbished, so all that is missing in the mix is a warm and velvet like tube amp sound.

After researching, I decided to go with the 18W TMB. Sluckey's design. I have a 2005 combo cabinet that I think will be perfect for it.

My question is (Actually, the first question of the many to come):

The last schematic I found was from 02/2007. Is there any new revision of this Sluckey's schematic?

Lastly, the cabinet I mentioned is meant for 8" speakers. Will a Celestion Eight do fine?

Thanks in advance and I hope to get to know all you enthusiasts.

The last schematic I found
most of us start with designs from pre '60s, so you're way ahead of the game  :icon_biggrin:

where you gonna play determines speaker(s), I typically build in the 10 - 20w range and play in the barn, a single 15, or a 2 X 12 is just right

It is my first handmade amp, but not my first time dealing with electronics. Would you say it is a complex design to start with? I actually went with the 18Watter rather then the AC15 due to my lack of confidence

I intend to use it as my home studio amp. The cabinet I have is quite similar to this:

nope you made the good choice there, advice, go slow, if it's a race, it'll be a wreck.  you've picked from someone that, takes the time, dots the I's.  Enjoy the process, expect addict status by the time you're jamming to .......
