I am trying very hard to learn to use DIY layout. I cannot seem to import files from the el34world library now. It did work at first, but now many of the files say they cannot be imported. I get a very long error indicating something with java. I have the latest version, but it's still not working. The error is in the diy program, not a windows error message. Is it something I am doing/have done? (probably) :dontknow:

Are you are trying to import  a .xml file or a .diy file?

.xml files are variant and building block files

There are two separate areas in the file menu for importing a .diy file or a .xml variant file

.xml file imports are in the integration menu

I am not having any issues with windows 7 or windows 10 and DIYLC

Importing is all working just fine

You did not answer my question as to what type of file you are trying to import

Right click on the files and choose save as to save them
Sounds like your browser is opening the files and displaying them

Here's the link to my .diy library

I don't know what you are doing wrong
Downloading a file from my DIY library has nothing to do with DIYLC

That is all done is a browser

Right click on the link and choose Save Link As (in Chrome)

Then you get to chose where to save the file on your computer
Here's a screen shot of me downloading a .diy file using Chrome

Okay, so I finally figured it out!!  :blob10:  I was right. Window's 10 in their ingenious method to force us into submission had decided to assign the files to MS Office. In doing so DIY could not import them. I went into file properties and reassigned the files to DIY. Bingo! If you can't import in Windows 10 all of a sudden, this is why! I miss Win.7(kinda) I hope this helps someone.

I don't understand that?

DIYLC would try to import any .xml file or .diy file if you pointed it to one of those files and told it to import it
Another program cannot keep DIYLC from attempting to open a file
