Building a switchable 5W/10W amp
« on: March 07, 2019, 10:23:30 pm »
I've been mulling over building a 5W practice amp and thought it might be a better idea to build an amp with switchable power levels after seeing some amps that are available from a local amp builder. His amps have a lot more than just this option in their circuitry. If you're interested in looking at his site here's the link. http://www.trinityamps.com/

The amp I'm looking to try and emulate is call the Tramp. A friend of mine has this amp and it's really versatile. Switchable power levels, ability to use a variety of power tubes and being able to blend the bass and treble that allows you dial in midrange. I have a solid state amp that I could use as the donor and I might actually use it to house just the speaker and build a cabinet for the amp itself.

I think this would be a really good project and am hoping that others here may have built something like this. If not, I would like to try and design the circuit with help from forum members.

Thanks.

Why reinvent. All the Tramp docs are available on the Trinity website.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Okay, I give. Which schematics are the ones I should be looking at? I didn't see any specifically listed for Trinity but I assume that the same circuitry is inside one of the other brands that are there. I'm not really familiar with most of the amps so I don't know which one(s) I should be looking at. Please excuse this dumbass.  :help:

Understandable. This site is pretty much the Holy Grail.  :icon_biggrin:
Tapping into the inner tube.
