Weird stain
« on: August 03, 2019, 01:56:19 pm »
I was frequenting Lowe's and noticed that they could mix unnatural colors of wood stain. I made this. It's my first amp I built but never made a cabinet for. I liked the blue and went back and had them make fire orange stain for me. I like it and it's easier than tolex. Anyways...look.

Very nice.

If you like the custom color concept, you should look into getting a set of the Keda dyes and make your own.

Nice! Maybe next time you might consider burning it Japanese shou sugi ban style before staining. It really makes the grain pop and would look great mixed with those stains you've got! Here is one I just finished. A little bit of trial and error involved,  but well worth it.

Burning works well on pine. Not so good on other types.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Pine and cedar, looks great. Birch, looks like crap. Don't know about other woods. I would think on any "grainy" wood it would look nice.

That is very, very nice! Ironically, or coincidentally that pine was salvaged from a garage that burnt down. I planed the burnt stuff off. I'll leave it next time I burn down my garage.
