5e3 question
« on: September 14, 2019, 02:45:21 pm »
Hi,

I've been playing around with my 5e3 volume/tone control wiring.

I first added 220k mixing resistors between the two channels and rewired the volume pots so the signal went from the right lug to the wiper of the pot like normal. i also just gave the bright channel the tone pot and the normal channel had no tone pot.

Could I wire the tone pot after the 220k mixing resistors to have it with both channels? I would connect the right lug and the middle lug to the joined end of the mixing resistors. Haven't seen this done. Would it work?

Also, I see a 100pf cap on the plates of the LTPI in the 6g3. Could you do the same thing to cut treble in the 5e3. But you would put the cap across the cathodyne PI plate and cathode?

Put it back like it was. It's not conventional but can be very musical.

You can add a tone pot also to the normal channel by using a dual pot. In that way it's possible to use different cap values for tone controls.
