wiring old style Marshall input jacks
« on: September 28, 2019, 11:28:29 am »
The title really says it all - I have some of the old style Marshall 4 lug input jacks that I would like to use, but I don't know how to wire them. Is there really any advantage to using them versus the standard Switchcraft jacks?

I prefer switchcraft hands down, you can see what's up, all metal, easy to clean n tension, only down-side if you want isolated, plastic is easier

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

And here's how to do it if the mixing resistors are not mounted on the jacks. The green wire goes to chassis ground. The two violet wires go to the two mixing resistors.

Everything is visible on the plastic jacks also. Except it is visible on the side away from the lugs so you have to keep your head straight.

There's an arm which contacts the plug, and a contact which is made when plug is NOT in. For sleeve, tip, and ring if it is a 3-contact type (stereo or pedal input, not needed at an amp input).
